Cincinnati Bengals kicker Kevin Huber competing with Columbus Crew, Ruud Gullit and local soccer talent in exciting half time contest

 

Cincinnati, April 22 2014 – The opening night for the Cincinnati Dutch Lions FC on May 9 at 7.00pm will feature an exciting half time event! Cincinnati Bengals kicker and UC graduate Kevin Huber will compete in a “kick the crossbar contest” against Columbus Crew/Dayton Dutch Lions FC player (and former XU player) Matt Walker, former (2x) best player of the world Ruud Gullit and some local soccer talent from several Cincinnati soccer clubs. Assistant Coach Robert Maaskant and Director of Soccer Operations Asher Mendelsohn from the Columbus Crew will also be present at the event.

 

The game vs River City Rovers is the first game of the Cincinnati Dutch Lions FC in the USL premier Development League. The game starts at 7.00pm at Xavier Soccer Complex. Since the stadium only has several hundred seats we recommend that you buy your tickets now and come early for an evening with great soccer and entertainment.

 

Coaches Terry Nicholl, Alan Grothaus and Jack Hermans have carefully selected their team consisting of several local top players combined with some international talent and experience from Brazil, Paraguay and he Netherlands.

 

President Mike Mossel commented on the opening game: “I believe our opening night has all the ingredients for a great night. Not only for soccer fans but also for families that are looking for an evening filled with entertainment. Besides showcasing some really good soccer players we are bringing top athletes together with local soccer players for a unique “kick the crossbar contest”.
