First win in the history of the club

Cincinnati OH, May 17 2014 – The Cincinnati Dutch Lions FC won their first game in club history, beating River City Rovers 2-0.  Chris Harmon opened the score in the 34th minute and Jeff McClure scored the second goal of the game (and his second of the season) in the 82th minute.

The Cincinnati Dutch Lions FC started the first half well on a windy night Jeffersonville, IN. The defense was solid and the River City Rovers had only one shot on target in the first half. The Lions had some chances and had their first goal of the evening scored by Chris Harmon in the 34th minute.

Coach Terry Nicholl commented: “Because of the weather it was a difficult game for both teams. We put a man marker on the playmaker of the River City Rovers so they weren’t that dangerous as they were last week. We played a good game and I give my credits to our goalkeeper with the good saves he had this day”.

In the second half there was a lot more pressure from the River City Rovers. Coach Terry Nicholl changed the formation from 1 defensive midfielder to 2 defensive midfielders to get more control on the midfield. The Rovers were dangerous a few times with shots from just outside the box. The Cincinnati Dutch Lions FC didn’t create a lot of chances after that, but sealed the game with a wonderfully goal with Jeff McClure finishing off a nice move between Logan Gumbert and Chris Harmon.

After the tie against the same opponent last week the Cincinnati Dutch Lions FC got three points. A historical moment in the history of the club. The next game is an away game against SWV King Warriors on Saturday May 24th 7.00PM. The next home game will be against West Virginia Chaos on Friday May 30rd 7:00pm
