CDL FC travel to Louisville for last regular season game

Cincinnati, OH, July 19 2014 – Although the Cincinnati Dutch Lions FC (6-4-3, 21 points in 13 games) lost their last two games, a 2-2 tie this week between Carolina Dynamo and the SWV King’s Warriors put the League in a crazy situation this weekend where three teams can still win the Championship in the last game. The WV Chaos are leading with 24 points but they play away against the SWV King’s Warriors, who have 21 points and can tie the Chaos if they beat them. The Lions can also get to 24 points in case they beat River City Rovers (3-7-3). In case all three teams are tied, they all have a 7-4-3 record and Cincinnati has a better record against the Warriors but the Chaos have a better record against Cincinnati. But the Warriors would have a better record against the Chaos making the goal differential the deciding factor. Cincinnati is then the best team. This means a win in Louisville on Saturday would at least mean 2nd place in their first year but possibly the Championship in case the Chaos loses against the Warriors, who are still unbeaten at home.

Head Coach Terry Nicholl commented on the upcoming game: “we thought we gave up the Championship last weekend but the results this week have given us another chance to win the title. Sometimes you need good fortune. We must take advantage of this and put together a complete performance in Louisville, getting back our solid integrity in our defense, not allowing teams to get through. Also our goalkeeper, who has had a tremendous season, must be on top form again. But most of all we must start taking our many scoring opportunities, especially early in games. Our midfield possession has been better but we have failed to take advantage of this recently”.
