Dutch Lions in Charlotte for Playoffs

The Cincinnati Dutch Lions have officially made the 2015 USL PDL playoffs.

The Lions are in Charlotte as they prepare to face-off with the Charlotte Eagles.  The Eagles have been victorious in the two teams prior meetings this season.

The Lions are a very offensive minded team with a focus on possession and team play.  Offensive midfielder Oriol Cortes had this to say about the matchup today.

“We’ve played them three times already, but that doesn’t matter.  Today its just 90 minutes.  Us versus them.  In a one game final anything can happen. ”

Since arriving mid season as an assistant, Bruno Lopes has helped reshape the Lions on the pitch.  With more organization, Lopes is hoping to change the outcome of tonights match.

“Since I’ve arrived, I have felt extremely welcomed by the players and other coaches. I’ve found a very good group of players.  They are always focused and they want to grow and get better.  We’ve been able to turn things around and there is a whole different vibe.  We wen’t from a group of individuals to one team with the same goals.  It doest matter what happens after tonight. Its already been a positive season.  Today we have the opportunity to make history for the Dutch Lions franchise.”

The Lions kickoff against the Eagles at Queens Sports Complex at 7:00 PM.  Tickets will be available at the gates for $10.00.
