CDLFC Grab First Win on the Road

The first of three matches between the Cincinnati Dutch Lions and Dayton Dutch Lions finished in 4-0 fashion with Cincinnati earning their first win of the season. Dayton, who started off with their first 2-0-0 start in club history, falls to 2-1-0 while CDLFC move to 1-1-0. Cincinnati finished the game with eight shots and majority of possession, exemplifying the team’s desire to have an exciting attacking presence this season.

For the first 30 minutes of the 1st half, the hosts weathered through Cincinnati’s possession and attempted breakdowns of a strict defensive formation. In the 32nd minute, Cincinnati gets their first goal of the season after a Sam Deroy throw-in found Jamie Leddy’s head which redirected the ball to the back post. Shortly after Leddy’s opener, a quick counter attack from a Deroy pass down the line to a streaking Sergi, Ngatcha’s timely run allowed for Sergi to find the winger’s head which extended the CDLFC lead to 2-0. Minutes before halftime a scramble in the Dayton box led to Jesse Dingjan finding the ball bounce out to him where he was able to bury the third Cincinnati goal in 12 minutes.

The second half showed Dayton the aggressor for the first 10 minutes. Cincinnati was able to withstand the pressure and led to Sam Sergi slamming a shot past a diving Yantz. The Xavier product’s goal finished off the scoring, and gave Sergi a goal and assist on the game. Cincinnati utilized all substitutes permitted to keep legs fresh and ready for their next match on Tuesday.

Cincinnati hosts Derby City Rovers on Tuesday May 30 at 7:00pm. Tickets are available online and at the gate.
