Bucks Victorious Against CDLFC

The reigning 2016 Great Lakes and PDL National Champion Michigan Bucks emerged 2-0 victors over the Cincinnati Dutch Lions in front of the largest crowd at Northern Kentucky University this season. The loss sets CDLFC back to 2-3-0 while the Bucks move to 3-1-0. For the first time this season, CDLFC was unable to register double-digit shots, as each team had six shots each. The Bucks move up to 4th and CDLFC falls to 5th in the Great Lakes Division standings.

It did not take long for the Bucks to find the back of the net. Just five minutes into the match, a loose ball in the box following a corner kick had Bucks’ Andre Landell alone to knock the ball past Zeus de la Paz. The corner kick came from a 1v1 save de la Paz made after a CDLFC turnover in the midfield. The Bucks doubled their lead just 16 minutes later when they had a defensive clearance find Daniel de Oliviera who played a three-man combination where Landell sent de Oliviera down the sideline. From the through pass to de Oliviera, he was able to center the ball to Jacob Bevan who finished it off as Namjoupanah was trying to recover on the break.

For the remainder of the first half, the game was played between the 18s. Statistics were even with each team registering four shots and two saves, CDLFC had the corner kick advantage at 3-1. The second half played the same way the last 24 minutes of the first half did. Bucks held on strong, and CDLFC tried to claw its way back. Both teams registered just two shots each in the second half, with only Bucks’ goalkeeper, Drew Shepherd, needing to make one save. Like the first half, CDLFC had a corner kick advantage at 6-2, but was unable to capitalize. Shot leaders for each team were Peguy Ngatcha (CDLFC – 2) and Andre Landell (Bucks – 3).
