Oldham Athletic Ink Zeus

The international January transfer window has brought much excitement to Zeus de la Paz, the Cincinnati Dutch Lions, and Oldham Athletic AFC. After a brief trial, Oldham Athletic AFC have signed former CDLFC goalkeeper Zeus de la Paz on a free transfer. Oldham Athletic currently play in English Football League One, which is third tier professional in England behind the English Premier League and the English Football League Championship.

A CDLFC fan favorite, de la Paz came to the Queen City for the 2017 PDL season. Known for his dominating presence in the box, de la Paz started every game tallying 1184 minutes which was 3rd overall among PDL goalkeepers. Zeus finished the season with a .91 goals allowed average, second lowest average by goalkeepers with similar minutes played. On the season, de la Paz collected 41 saves and had a .774 save percentage. Zeus made an immediate impression in the PDL, which also earned him a week-long trial with FC Cincinnati in July.

A breakaway save against the Michigan Bucks earned Zeus a Save of the Month nomination in PDL.

In the final week of PDL regular season play, Zeus earned PDL Team of the Week honors. During week 10, de la Paz collected two shutouts and 13 saves in 0-0 draws against the Dayton Dutch Lions and Great Lakes Division winners Michigan Bucks.

Prior to joining the Cincinnati Dutch Lions, de la Paz grew up in the world-renowned PSV Eindhoven Academy. After Zeus finished in the Academy, he joined Jong PSV before moving to England with Nuneaton Town. In his international career, de la Paz competed with the Dutch U16 and U18 national teams before he pledged international commitment to Curaçao. After committing to Curaçao, Zeus has seen time with the U20 and senior teams.

The Cincinnati Dutch Lions thank Zeus for his excellent contribution to the club, we wish him and Oldham Athletic well as they finish up the 2017-18 season.
