Barajas to Atlanta United 2

The “Gateway to Professional Soccer” with Cincinnati Dutch Lions came to fruition again, making it nine players signing pro soccer contracts since 2015, including five since January 2017 under the new ownership group. Finalized on Monday evening, 2017 CDLFC midfielder, Kevin Barajas inked his first professional contract with Atlanta United 2.

Barajas, who played four years of college soccer at the University of Kentucky, was a mid-season acquisition for CDLFC in 2017. The central midfielder made an immediate impact with the Cincinnati Dutch Lions as he played eight games and logged 553 minutes, averaging near-70 minutes a game. In the first four matches with Barajas, CDLFC went 3-1-0. As a holding midfielder, Barajas aided the Cincinnati Dutch Lions defense during the late-season four game shutout streak that included a club-record 410 minutes without conceding a goal.

After the PDL season, Barajas finished his eligibility with UK in spectacular fashion. Again playing in the midfield, Barajas started 17 of 18 games for the 8-6-4 Wildcats and logged second most minutes (1607 min.) on the team among field players. Throughout his UK career, Barajas played in 69 games, 4187 minutes, while he scored four goals and added three assists. The signing Atlanta United is a dream for the Georgia native who was born in Atlanta and played with the Georgia ODP State team. As a youth, Barajas played at Mt. Paran Christian School and Georgia United.

Congratulations to Kevin as he joins the #Path2Pro signings from CDLFC.
